Today when I was on the Whole $ale Forums of Worldwide Brands. I found an interesting question posted by one of the members, who wanted to know how to find sites that had PageRank of certain value. The idea being that she would try to get backlinks from these sites to speed up the growth of her website. There is slight error with looking for high PageRank sites to get links back from. Google might not qualify the pages as highly relevant to your site. The big G might also rate PR1 site more relevant to a search terms than PR3 site. So what can you do?

Well you could do worse than just asking Google themselves. After all they rank in order sites they think are relevant. So lets think which sites let you post comments and potentially links? Wordpress.com, Blogspot.com and even Squidoo all jump to mind. So lets say that your niche is in selling “Striped Socks” you would want to head to Google .

To find Wordpress.com post related to “striped socks” type in.

“striped socks” site:wordpress.com

and for blogspot

“striped socks” site:blogspot.com

and finally for squidoo.com

“striped socks” site:squidoo.com

This will give you a top 10 listing for each site. You can if you want to combine the 3 into one search and get an ultimate top 10 between those three sites. That way you can prioritize which sites to get links from first. To do that use the following

Shortcut method

“striped socks” (site:wordpress.com || site:blogspot.com || site:squidoo.com)

You can use these techniques in the other search engines also. You can go to Yahoo! and find their top 10 listing related to your niche. There is also MSN for their top 10 list. Just a quick note, the shortcut method doesn’t work in Yahoo!. You have to do each search separately.

Anyway guys I hope this gives you guys an idea for how you can find quality backlinks for your niche sites.

    You could also download a free tool called Comment Hut Lite that will give you the top 10 ( I think?) results from wordpress but either way thanks for the great info.

    Cheers for the tip JR. You can do quite powerful things with the google search. Want to find blogs that have your keyword in the url you can do that also.

    Try site:wordpress.com allinurl:”your keyword”

    or you can try

    site:wordpress.com allintitle: “your keyword”
